About the Chartered Manager (CMgr) Status
The Gold Standard of Leadership ExcellenceThe Chartered Manager (CMgr) designation is the highest professional status that can be achieved in management and leadership — a globally protected title awarded exclusively by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI-UK) under Royal Charter.
It recognises not only what a leader knows, but what they achieve — verifying a proven track record of strategic impact, professional competence, and ethical leadership.
Becoming a Chartered Manager means joining a select global fellowship of executives who have demonstrated that their leadership makes a measurable difference — to people, to performance, and to purpose.
What It Means to Be a Chartered Manager
- Royal Charter Recognition: The title “Chartered Manager” is granted under the authority of the UK Privy Council, making it an official mark of professional distinction.
- Global Credibility: CMgrs are recognised internationally as trusted, competent, and ethical leaders who meet the highest management standards.
- Proven Impact: CMI research shows Chartered Managers add significant organisational value through better decisions, innovation, and people leadership.
- Lifelong Professional Status: CMgr is not a certificate — it is a permanent professional title that remains with you throughout your leadership journey.
- Post-Nominal Prestige: Those who attain chartership are entitled to use the post-nominal “CMgr”, joining an elite professional community of respected leaders worldwide.
- To be Chartered is to be Certified, Competent, and Credible.
It is the Crown of Leadership — earned through experience, validated by impact, and sustained by integrity.
How the CMP Leads to CMgr Status
The Chartered Manager Program (CMP) at the University of Gold Coast, in partnership with CMI-UK, provides a direct, embedded route to CMgr status.
Through the completion of six CMI Level 7 modules and the submission of a professional impact portfolio, participants automatically qualify for the Chartered Manager designation — without the need for additional interviews or external assessments.
This means every graduate of the CMP leaves not only with a CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management & Leadership Practice, but also with the Chartered Manager (CMgr) status — a globally respected credential that affirms their place among the world’s most accomplished leaders.
